Amazon Seller Newsletter - November 2012

Dear Amazon Seller shop {{company.Named Account:default=edit me}},

This newsletter will cover the following topics:

1. Plan for a successful festive season with Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA)

2. It's all in the presentation - How to improve your product listings

3. New - Improved Amazon Seller Forums

1) Plan for a successful festive season with Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA)

Good timing can make your end-of-year sales, and we want you to have your best festive season ever. Ship your inventory to Amazon early to take advantage of the peak shopping days.

Remember you can optimise your sales with FBA:

  • We will ship most items until very shortly before Christmas.
  • Many late purchasing customers trust Amazon to deliver by Christmas Eve and will therefore place a last minute order.
  • Your FBA orders can be combined with those from Amazon retail resulting in one cost saving order for the customer. As a result buyers will often add FBA items to their Amazon order.
  • With Christmas gift cards, the last week of the year can see a lot of continued ordering activity so don’t let your top selling inventory run dry.

To get started, follow our simple step by step guide to prepare your first shipment. Should you have questions, or require assistance, our Seller Support will be very happy to help. You can find more info about selling internationally in our EU Import and Cross-Border Sales Information document.

This tutorial will explain the first steps on how to get started with Fulfilment by Amazon:

Gain flexibility and optimise your inventory when you use Multi-Channel Fulfilment and EU Export for Multi-channel

Especially at this busy time of the year, you can take full advantage of the option and flexibility to fulfil domestic on and off Amazon orders as well as international on and off Amazon orders EU wide from one single local inventory pool located in an Amazon Fulfilment Centre. This means you could reach more customers by listing your existing FBA inventory on other online channels at home and Europe wide or just on your home marketplace but for delivery to customers throughout the EU. Learn more.
When an item sells on another channel, just tell us what to ship and to whom and whether it should go standard or expedited delivery for domestic orders and we will do the rest. Once you submit a multi-channel order, you will see the estimated delivery date which can then be shared with the customer. You can also custom brand the packing slip which accompanies your orders.

Reach tens of millions of potential new customers on Amazon EU wide

When you list some of your best selling items on one or more of Amazon’s other EU marketplaces (Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.it) and use Amazon’s European Fulfilment Network (EFN) to deliver your orders, you can easily extend your market reach to tens of millions of potential new customers and enjoy increased sales and reduced costs.

2) It's all in the presentation - How to improve your product listings

All successful retailers know that if their offers are well presented and easy to find, customers are much more likely to buy them and, more importantly, come back again. Good presentation really does boost sales.

With the huge array of offers on display on Amazon.co.uk, it is critical that your product listings maintain the excellent standard of detail and discoverability that our customers expect. By checking the 2 new Product Listing & Content Guides, now published here in Seller Central, you can ensure that your products are discoverable, attractive, accurate and, most importantly, sellable.

One gives an overview of best practices for listing products in our Hardlines and Consumables categories, which include Computers & Office, Home Garden & Pets, Toys & Baby, DIY, Tools, Auto, Grocery and Health & Beauty. The other is specifically for Electronics. You can also find listing guides which contain more specific information relating to these individual categories (for example Alcoholic Beverages) and also for other categories on Amazon (for example, Watches).

The guides are easy-to follow manuals, with clear examples of "do’s and don’ts" and provide information on everything you need to create a great product listing, for both content and discoverability, including product title, images, bullet points, product descriptions, brand and manufacturer, model & part number, what's in the box, search terms, browse and refinements.
There is also information specific to your method of data upload – whether via the Add a Product tool in Seller Central or via inventory file templates.

NEW - Product Classifier tool

We are also delighted to announce the launch of the Product Classifier tool. This interactive listings classification tool allows Sellers to search and browse for keywords and recommended browse nodes for their listings, and to then transfer the results to their inventory files or feeds. Learn more.
The Product Classifier currently supports Auto Accessories, Baby, Clothing Accessories, Consumer Electronics, Health & Personal Care, Home & Garden, Home Improvement, Jewellery, Office, Shoes, Sports, and Watches. Look out for the Product Classifier for Books, Industrial, PC, Sports Collectibles, and Toys coming soon.

 3) New - Improved Amazon Seller Forums

Amazon is pleased to announce that new and improved Amazon Seller Forums have launched. These forums provide a venue in which Amazon Sellers can exchange ideas, knowledge, and opinions about anything related to Selling on Amazon or other Amazon Services.

Some of the notable features include:

  • "Ask Amazon Services Europe" forum: Sellers now have a forum that enables them to post their general questions about selling on Amazon in order to receive prompt answers from Amazon Seller Support specialists and fellow sellers.
  • Question/Answer points system: This feature allows Sellers to designate their posts as "questions" and other Sellers’ replies as "answers". Sellers receive points for correct answers and build up points to achieve different score levels with corresponding icons.
  • Thread watch and RSS: Sellers can watch threads of interest and receive email updates when replies are posted. Additionally, Sellers can choose to subscribe to specific forums using the available RSS feed.

Explore the forums and threads to find lively discussions and information about Selling on Amazon and other Amazon Services. More information here.
