3. Make your products sparkle

6. Checkout by Amazon can help you reduce the impact of fraud

1) Take your business to the next level and sell your products internationally

Amazon is constantly looking for new ways to help its merchants sell more. With the introduction of the Amazon European Marketplaces Account and Amazon‘s European Fulfilment Network (EFN), Amazon can help you expand your market reach and business to tens of millions of potential new customers throughout the European Union.

From one single home marketplace account and without additional listing fees, you can list your offers in over 20 different product categories on multiple Amazon Europe Marketplaces in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

The recently launched Expand Offers Internationally tool enables you to create offers for products that you are selling through one Amazon Europe Marketplace (such as Amazon.co.uk), in a target marketplace (such as Amazon.de) against existing products (ASINs). The main benefit is that you don’t need to translate your product details since the products already exist in the target marketplace.

With Fulfilment by Amazon’s European Fulfilment Network (EFN) you can ship your products to an Amazon fulfilment centre in your home marketplace. Your products are delivered directly by Amazon to your customers purchasing on Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, Amazon.fr and Amazon.it. Amazon even takes care of customer service and returns handling.

2) Benefits to Sellers and Customers using Fulfilment by Amazon this festive season

Consider increasing the number of faster selling items you convert to Fulfilment by Amazon during the busy run up to year end. This can result in the following benefits for your customers and incremental sales for your business.

  • Amazon Prime and Free Super Saver Delivery: Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) items compete for the Buy Box showing £0 for shipping and most items qualify for FREE Super Saver Delivery and Prime delivery discounts.
  • Amazon customer service: Amazon handles customer service for FBA-fulfilled orders, including processing returns, which simplifies your festive season selling.
  • Amazon's gift-wrap service: FBA-fulfilled orders are eligible for gift wrap services, adding a special finishing touch to any presents ordered.
  • Amazon's delivery promise for your products: Amazon lets customers know how late they can order your FBA-fulfilled products on Amazon in order to receive them in time for Christmas. This means more of your products can ship closer to the Christmas deadline with Amazon's delivery promise.

  • FBA orders can be combined with those from Amazon retail: often leading to buyers adding FBA items to their Amazon order.

If you have valuable products you are selling online, take advantage of Zero Fee Fulfilment, which means Zero Pick & Pack, and Zero Weight Handling.  With Zero Fee Fulfilment, standard-size items selling for £ 300 or more will incur no fees for orders sold on Amazon.co.uk.  Selling on Amazon fees, storage fees and other applicable fees still apply.  Please find an example of Zero Fee Fulfilment.

If you have not already done so, do bear in mind that you can have Amazon deliver your Amazon orders to any customer in the EU by activating the FBA Export to EU function with one simple click at no extra charge to you.

Last but not least you can list your offers on any of Amazon’s other European Marketplaces and have Fulfilment by Amazon deliver them from your local inventory pool to customers EU-wide using Amazon’s European Fulfilment Network.

3) Make your products sparkle

Our data consistently proves that getting detail pages, attributes and discoverability right is the single most important thing you can do to ensure your products' success on the Amazon platform, and this is even more true for the upcoming, high-stakes Christmas gifting season. Clear images, accurate descriptions, concise titles and features, correctly assigned browse-nodes and relevant key search terms all serve to increase your sales.

Look out for information on the new Product Listing & Content Guide in the next Selling on Amazon newsletter – an easy-to-follow manual that will help you to create products that are discoverable, attractive, accurate and, most importantly, sellable.

This tutorial will explain how information is displayed on Amazon product pages (also known as detail pages).

4) New: Refund cancellation now possible for sellers

You now have the possibility of cancelling a refund for up to two hours.
One of the reasons Sellers contact Seller Support is because of refund mistakes. Occasionally, a Seller refunds the wrong order or issues a full refund when he intended just a partial refund. As a result, we have just added a standard holding period for all refunds.
In Manage Orders, refund requests are held for up to 2 hours in “Pending” status before the refund is released to the Buyer. The “Pending” status provides you a buffer in case you accidentally refund the wrong amount or the wrong order.
If everything is correct, no further action is needed on your side. After that 2-hour window has closed, we release the refund. It can no longer be cancelled.

Additionally, we notify the Buyer only when the refund is actually released.

5) Keeping your communications with Buyers on top

Are you monitoring your contact response-time metrics?
Timely responses to customer e-mails are important to customer satisfaction.

See the following chart on the
Customer Metrics page in your Seller account for greater insight into how responsive your business is to customer e-mails:

The metrics are based on how quickly you respond to customer messages you receive through the Buyer-Seller Messaging Service.

Remember: Customers who do not receive timely responses are more likely to leave negative feedback or file A-to-z Guarantee claims, which impact your performance metrics. To learn more contact response-time metrics click here.

Encourage positive feedback from Buyers
Feedback is important to both Sellers and Buyers because it is a metric by which Amazon measures seller performance and is a resource to Buyers when making purchasing decisions.
Buyers can leave feedback for up to 90 days after their transaction. Once a buyer leaves feedback, it cannot be edited, but the buyer can remove it for up to 60 days.
You are allowed to contact Buyers about their feedback. Remember, though, that ultimately it's the Buyer's decision whether to give feedback, what kind of feedback to provide, and whether to remove negative feedback. Respect their decision, and always be courteous in your communications.

To contact Buyers, use the
Feedback Manager tool in your Seller Account. You can also use this tool to leave a response on your own Seller Profile to feedback Buyers have left. In general, good feedback rewards Sellers who:

  • List their products correctly (in the correct category, accurate condition notes, etc.)
  • Communicate well with Buyers (politely, proactively)
  • Ship orders promptly (on time)

Remember, Customers are more likely to purchase products from Sellers with higher feedback ratings. More information on encouraging customer feedback here.

Manage negative feedback from Buyers
If you receive a feedback comment that you are not happy with, we encourage you to contact your Buyer, and work with him to resolve any order issues. Listen politely to his issue and respond professionally. It may be worthwhile to offer some sort of consolation to resolve the issue, such as a refund of shipping costs if the Buyer's feedback is about late delivery of an order. Your Buyer could then remove the feedback if he feels it would be appropriate.

When you receive negative feedback, put it in perspective. A 0-2% negative feedback rate is great! If your negative feedback rate is greater than 5%, you may want to review your business practices. Remember that you can do a lot to avoid receiving negative feedback by providing great customer service!

This tutorial will explain how to get good feedback with customer service
